FFFAI Membership

Industry standing since 1990

NG Pillai has been a member of the Federation of Freight Forwarders' Associations in India (FFFAI) since 1990 — three years before many current competitors were formed. FFFAI membership reflects commitment to ethical trade practices, carrier accountability, and dispute resolution standards recognised by customs authorities and financial institutions.

What FFFAI membership means for your cargo

FFFAI-registered forwarders operate under a code of conduct binding them to transparent pricing, proper documentation, and liability for cargo in custody. Non-registered operators have no equivalent accountability framework.

AEO status — faster clearance, lower examination rates

As an AEO-certified operator, NG Pillai shipments are classified as trusted by Indian Customs. This means priority processing at customs and reduced physical examination — measurably shorter dwell time versus non-AEO forwarders.

How It Works

End-to-end freight process

01

Shipment assessment

We review commodity, HS code, weight, volume, origin, destination, and timeline. We recommend mode and routing — FCL vs LCL vs air — and send you a rate comparison.

02

Booking and documentation

Carrier booking, space confirmation, and full documentation package: Bill of Lading or AWB, packing list, commercial invoice review, Certificate of Origin (if applicable), and insurance coordination.

03

Export customs clearance

Filing Shipping Bill with Indian Customs, LEO (Let Export Order), coordination with CFS/ICD or port terminal. Our AEO status accelerates processing.

04

Transit and tracking

Vessel/flight departure confirmation, B/L or AWB release, live tracking updates at key milestones. Pre-alert sent to destination agent 48–72 hours before arrival.

05

Import clearance and delivery

Coordination with our destination agent network for customs clearance, duty payment, and last-mile delivery. We manage both ends on India–UAE lanes directly.

FAQ

Freight forwarding questions

What is the difference between FCL and LCL freight?
FCL (Full Container Load) means your cargo occupies the entire container — usually 20ft or 40ft. LCL (Less than Container Load) means your goods share space with other shippers' cargo. FCL is better for volumes above 15–18 CBM and provides faster, cleaner transit. LCL is more economical for smaller shipments, though consolidation adds 3–5 transit days.
How long does sea freight from India to UAE take?
FCL from JNPT to Jebel Ali runs 10–14 days on direct services. LCL typically takes 14–18 days including consolidation at origin CFS. Mundra to Jebel Ali is slightly shorter at 8–12 days. Air freight from Delhi IGI to Dubai is 2–4 days for standard commercial cargo.
Do you handle door-to-door freight forwarding?
Yes. We offer door-to-door freight including inland trucking from factory, export customs clearance, carrier booking, and destination agent coordination for import clearance and last-mile delivery. India–UAE lanes are handled directly by our own team at both ends.
Which ports in India do you operate from?
Our primary sea freight ports are JNPT (Nhava Sheva), Mundra, Chennai, Cochin, and Kolkata, plus ICDs at Tughlakabad and Patparganj for Delhi-origin cargo. For air freight, we operate primarily from IGI Delhi, with connections at Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru airports.
Do you issue the Bill of Lading directly?
We issue House Bills of Lading (HBL) under our own freight forwarder NVOCC licence. For shipments where a Master Bill of Lading from the carrier is required, we arrange this directly through our carrier accounts on major trade lanes.
